“During the incredible journey of my education, formally and informally, I have been so fortunate to receive the time and attention of professionals so much more experienced than I. I have been mentored, given scholarships, and received untold hours of advice from people whose time was more valuable than I could have imagined. Today, in appreciation for the generosity of those gifts of time and thoughts, I am honored to join the academic world, both as a member of faculty and on the board of Trustees.”

As an artist and an entrepreneur, Deborah has long been interested in the business of art and in living with design. Deborah opened her store, Buck House in 2001 and her gallery/studio, The Gallery at Buck House in 2006. Deborah’s interests are in building community within the industry whether it is by hosting “salons” at the Gallery--gathering artists and intellectuals in conversation-- or by curating an inventory for her storefront location that reflects an appreciation and knowledge of art and travel. These appointments are a continuation of the same conversations…between people, among a community and within a new generation of artists and designers. <

As an artist and a designer, I am in awe of the students’ energy, talent and knowledge. It is incredibly exciting to see this generation take on technology and our world. They renew my own eyes and feed my head. They are deeply inspiring.
